Do you know why Ottawa was chosen as the Capital of Canada?

It was the only settlement of any significant size located right on the border of Canada East and Canada West.
Ottawa was (then ~1812) surrounded by a dense forest far from the US border.
Central location; easy transportation via the Ottawa River to Canada East, and the Rideau Canal to Canada West.
the small size town made it less likely that politically motivated mobs could go on a rampage and destroy government buildings. ^^;

I’ve tried Chicago’s famous Deep Dish Pizza at both Giordano’s and Ginos East of Chicago restaurants and I recommend Giordano’s pizza for its thin crust, perfectly seasoned tomato sauce, loaded meat (ordered MEAT & MORE MEAT pizza) and fresh mozzarella cheese. Surprisingly Super Veggie Pizza was very delicious too. Highly recommend this place if you are visiting Chicago.
